WHO AM I?
I’m David Keegan, of course! Here’s my linkedin
I spent years as a software engineer, working my way through my career to a Senior Engineer at Google. Through that process I’ve amassed a large variety of tricks, tips, techniques, and skills, towards the betterment of my career. As I’ve mentored others through that process, I’ve realized that was where my true interest lies. Now I work full-time as a career mentor for other engineers, helping them build the careers they want as well.
I’ve always been developer focused, working first on CI/CD pipelines and test frameworks at Amazon, then working on Build systems and Engineering Productivity (EngProd) at Google. Finding ways to improve developer productivity and developer experience has always led to a primary focus on the people, the engineers, rather than the specific tools or frameworks. Now I focus entirely on that, and completely ignore tools and frameworks.
MISSION
I focus on helping people build the non-technical skills that are needed to build a successful career as an engineer. These skills are so often overlooked, and are so desperately needed in the industry.
As a former engineer, I can explain these skills in ways that other engineers can grasp. Most people struggle with this, since they don’t think like an engineer.
